Goal:  

The goal of this educational activity is to convey state of the art Infectious Disease information to health care providers in the community that is of practical aid in the management of patients.  As a result of attending this symposium, new knowledge should allow better patient management in the areas covered.

Target Audience

This course was designed for physicians (primary care and hospital-based), advanced practitioners, microbiologists, nurses, infection control practitioners, pharmacists, and practitioners in chronic care facilities.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  • Identify the ideal patient(s) for appropriate use of simplified ART such as dual-drug therapy.

  • Evaluate current recommendations and data on breastfeeding among people with HIV to effectively counsel patients on their options.

  • Analyze and present key findings of recent influential studies in infectious diseases (ID), highlighting their impact on clinical practice.

  • Develop an actionable plan for integrating findings from the selected studies into clinical practice to improve infectious disease management.

  • Enhance understanding of collaborative patient management between ID specialists and primary care providers to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Equip healthcare professionals with actionable strategies for seamless communication and coordinated care in the management of infectious diseases in primary care settings.

  • Increase awareness of the link between addiction and infectious diseases for better patient care and public health.

  • Provide actionable strategies for healthcare professionals to address the challenges of addiction and infectious diseases, aiming to improve patient outcomes and community well-being.

  • Raise awareness about new opportunities in infectious disease diagnostics to improve patient care and public health.

  • Discuss the challenges and limitations of newer infectious disease diagnostics.

  • Understand the importance and components of appropriate diagnostics when encountering patients with multi-drug resistant organisms.

  • Equip healthcare professionals to manage certain multi-drug resistant organisms.

  • Identify resources to help with appropriate antibiotic plans for multi-drug resistant organisms.

  • Review advancements in the use of artificial intelligence in the context of medical practice.

  • Explore potential uses of AI technologies in the field of infectious diseases
