Objectives

     

  • Review lipoprotein metabolism and disorders, including recent data on the prevalence of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH).

  • Characterize mechanisms of action of standard cholesterol-lowering therapy and efficacy in FH.

  • Describe “experiments” of nature which have led to new therapeutic agents. 

Review the clinical efficacy of these novel drugs, including expert consensus on their use
