Cheri Mustain, LICSW
Cheri Mustain, LICSW, is an experienced clinical social worker specializing in geriatrics, dementia care, and end-of-life support. She has been a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at Baystate Medical Center since 2015, serving within the Division of Geriatrics, Palliative Care, and Post‑Acute Medicine. Her early work at Baystate included contributions to the HRSA‑funded Baystate Regional Geriatrics and Palliative Care Initiative – The Geri‑Pal TLC Project (Transformation through Learning and Collaboration). She later continued her geriatrics-focused practice at Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital on the Geripsych unit, affiliated with Baystate. She is currently a clinical support person at the Longmeadow Memory Assessment and Care Clinic serving older adults in the Greater Springfield area.
Cheri earned her Master of Social Work from Springfield College in 2015 with an emphasis in Gerontology and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society. She completed the End‑of‑Life Certificate Program at the Smith College School of Social Work in 2016 and the Advanced Clinical Dementia Practice Program through the University of Michigan in 2016.
Her professional development includes specialized Train‑the‑Trainer certifications in Caring for People with Alzheimer’s Disease: A Habilitation Training (2015) and Behavioral Teams: A Non‑Pharmacological Approach to Managing Behaviors (2016). She is Teepa Snow certified Trainer and Train-the-Trainer. She has been a member of NASW since 2012 and has held membership with the American Geriatrics Society since 2016.
Cheri’s clinical focus includes advanced dementia care, caregiver support, behavioral management using non‑pharmacological approaches, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She has partnered with physicians, nurse practitioners, memory disorder specialists, nurses, medical assistants, and community agencies to improve outcomes for frail older adults and their caregivers.
