Day 1

2. Explore the significant and importance of Holistic Nursing Certification at Baystate Health 
3. Define the Magnet Nursing Standards and the IOM Future of Nursing Report alignment with promoting nurse’s self-care and well-being 
4. Interpret the therapeutic inpatient, ambulatory and community environments that holistic nursing care impacts 
5. Interpret the current evidence-informed literature about holistic nursing care 
6. Integrate principles of the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses into self-care and patient care 
7. Differentiate between the different types of certifications for holistic nursing 
8. Recognize the nursing theorists who provided a written foundation for holistic nursing concepts

Day 2 

1. Explore the significant and importance of healing energy therapies and interconnectedness in holistic nursing 
2. Define the Holistic Code of Ethics, ethical decision making, and the ethical role of the nurse at BH 
3. Interpret the different holistic caring process in the inpatient, ambulatory and community environments that holistic nursing care impacts 
4. Differentiate between compassion fatigue and caregiver burnout in nursing 
5. Recognize the holistic nursing standards that the holistic nurse implements for comfort and healing

Day 3 

1. Explore the non-invasive integrative therapies (breathing, meditation, guided imagery, sleep benefits and immunology) that support the holistic approach to patient care & nurse’s well-being 
2. Define the benefits of aromatherapy, art or music and sound therapy and their alignment with promoting patient’s healing and nurse’s well-being 
3. Interpret the therapeutic inpatient, ambulatory and community environment
4. Discuss the application of the using the M-Technique method of structured touch to support comfort or aid in the healing environment  
5. Interpret the therapeutic effects of using the M Technique on staff and patients

Day 4 

1. Explore the ideas, concepts and components of a holistic group evidence-informed project on the nurse’s unit/department
2. Define holistic interventions that would provide therapeutic comfort to the staff or patients on the nurse’s unit/department 
3. Interpret the evidence informed practices that support self-care, self-reflection and self-development of the holistic nurse 
4. Analyze holistic communication and leadership styles 
5. Differentiate between the concepts of emotional intelligence, spirituality and belief systems 
6. Develop a holistic spiritual assessment of a family member or colleague
