Have you ever wondered what happens in the medical exam room at a Children's Advocacy Center (CAC)? Questioned whether you should refer a family to the CAC, Emergency Department, or their Pediatrician? This training is for you! Join us to learn more about what happens after a child is referred for a forensic medical exam. This training is appropriate for all multidisciplinary partners and community pediatricians who might make a referral for a forensic medical exam. Dr. Sasha Svendsen will be joined by a panel of MDT partners (Law Enforcement, Child Welfare & Mental Health) to further explore how each discipline can benefit from the forensic medical exam.

Mental Health Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, Law Enforcement, Victim Advocates, Lawyers, Child Welfare Workers, Pediatricians, Nuses, and Medical Staff
Learning Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
- Identify the components of a forensic medical evaluation for sexual abuse.
- Outline the factors that contribute to triaging the urgency of the forensic medical evaluation.
- Describe the value of the forensic medical evaluation for each of the MDT disciplines.
- Discuss the importance and ability of all MDT members to competently communicate the significance of the medical evaluation to children and their caregivers.
