Pediatric Sim and Skills Education
Pediatric simulation educational activity combines didactic and simulation-based activities to teach various skills in caring for pediatric patients, including resuscitation and trauma management, procedural skills, behavioral health management, special populations and chronic patients, and team training. It is also a valuable tool for health care educators, allowing learners to achieve competence without putting patients at risk.
Target Audience
EMTS, Paramedics, and ED nurses who care for Pediatric patients
Learning Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Assess auto-vs-pedestrian injuries for specific pediatric vulnerabilities.
2. Determine appropriate interventions for pediatric vulnerabilities in auto-vs-pedestrian injuries. (Waddell’s triad: intrabdominal injury, head injury, LE injury)
3. Describe pediatric trauma assessment, including pedi GCS.
4. Provide de-escalating/comforting techniques to a scared/injured child and/or family.
5. Recognize signs and symptoms of pediatric shock.
6. Determine appropriate interventions for pediatric shock.
