Peer Support Training

Springfield, MA US
December 12, 2024

Baystate Medical Center was one of a select group of Massachusetts' hospitals chosen to be a pilot site for the Betsy Lehman Center's new statewide model for a clinician and staff peer support program. We are excited about this opportunity to strengthen our efforts to support our caregivers, providers, and staff. A peer supporter is a coworker/peer who actively listens and supports a fellow clinician after an adverse event or unanticipated patient outcome. The peer supporter provides a safe zone for the clinician to receive emotional first aid and express his/her feelings about the event in a private setting. The conversation is 100 percent confidential. Education will be given by a trained peer supporter. Educational model will be an interactive forum for all participants
