ForwardRural Trauma Team Development Course - Grace Cottage Hospital
The rural trauma team development course has been designed to improve the quality of care in rural communities by developing a timely, organized, and systemic response to the care of the trauma patient. This course emphasizes a team approach to address common problems in the initial assessment and stabilization of the injured.

Target Audience
All staff who touch and take care of a traumatically injured patient in the resuscitation phase of treatment.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
- Develop and apply a rural trauma team structure with defined roles and responsibilities
- Perform and prioritize trauma assessment and resuscitation interventions to rapidly identify and manage life-threatening injuries in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Initiate and coordinate early interfacility transfer processes to reduce delays in definitive care and improve patient throughput
- Demonstrate and adapt communication strategies within the interprofessional team
- Implement and evaluate a performance improvement process using team-based data to measure, analyze, and improve trauma care outcomes
