Target Audience
This course is designed for nurses who care for patients undergoing procedures requiring sedation, analgesia and anesthesia.
Learning Objectives
- Define risk factors for PTSD
- Identify populations at risk for PTSD
- Describe some non-pharmacological techniques to manage PTSD in the perioperative patient.
- Identify new treatments in the management of the patient with PTSD.
- Discuss how data transparency within an organization leads to staff engagement in ongoing clinical quality improvement.
- Explain basic improvement concepts including PDSA, RCA, transparency and sustainment.
- Explain the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process and be willing to participate in future RCA's without fear.
- Recognize the basics of performance improvement methodologies and tools.
- Describe information on the Child Development Stages that directly relate to hospital experiences.
- Identify ideas to successfully guide children and their families through the admitting, induction and PACU process.
- Review skills and interactions to help ready staff caring for the pediatric population.
- Discover the benefits of international medicine.
- Discuss the overview of volunteer medicine at Sacred Heart Hospital in Haiti.
- Identify the needs of international medicine.
